"How many times can the Nas story be told?" Executive Producer and director of the Nas & Dave East episode of Neflix' "RAPTURE," Sacha Jenkins hit it right on the head.
What separates the barrage of docu-series and personal vlogs we have about artists today? This is one vantage point that Jenkins promises we will get a new perspective of in the series "RAPTURE," releasing on Netflix, tomorrow, Friday March 30th.
Jenkins is no stranger to documenting the pivotal movements in hip-hop culture. He previously wrote for VIBE Magazine, created content for his brand Ego Trip (remember those shows on VH1 back in the Day?), and created films with focal points of huge cultural values, such as "Fresh Dressed." Jenkins also has some personal stake in the story, since he knew Nas' in school. Jenkins is from the same neighborhood and had a few of the same experiences.
Seeing the nine artists displayed on the movie poster - there was no doubt this would be a series in my Netflix cue. In partnership with Mass Appeal, it was only right Jenkins highlighted his partner Nas' story with his up and coming co-signed artist, Dave East, whom recently signed to Def Jam.
