Normani just released her new single "Wild Side," Featuring Cardi B and a lot of people were quick to notice the song sampled Aaliyah's "One in a Million."
However, Barry Hankerson, Aaliyah's uncle and manager of her catalog stated Normani never asked to sample Aaliyah's song.
But that it's all good because Aaliyah "always encouraged young women pursing their musical and entertainment careers, to achieve their dreams."
He still believes the honorable thing would have been to ask, but adding "I believe that Aaliyah would be very supportive of a young Black woman that chose to emulate her music and style."
