'The Lion King' Trailer Is Disney's Most-Viewed in 24 Hours

Disney gave us all something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, when it released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming "live-action" remake of The Lion King during the NFL's Thanksgiving primetime game. The minute-and-a-half long clip is a shot-by-shot replica of the 1994 original's opening scene — "Circle of Life" and all — and we've basically been watching it all weekend.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, the preview amassed 224.6 million views online in its first 24 hours, breaking Disney's record for most-viewed trailer in its first day and coming in second from any studio only to the Avengers: Infinity Wars trailer, which racked up 238 million views.

Watch the record breaking Lion King trailer below.

The Lion King CGI remake is being helmed by Jon Favreau, who also directed the 2016 live action version of The Jungle Book. Aside from Earl Jones, the movie boasts a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé as Nala. The film will also feature Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Eric André, and Keegan-Michael Key are also set to voice some of the film's beloved animals.

The Lion King is slated for a July 19, 2019 release.
