The First 'Lion King' Remake Trailer Is Here and We Can't Get Enough of It

This Thanksgiving, we were thankful for Disney releasing the first trailer for the upcoming Lion King remake. The minute and a half teaser premiered during the NFL's Thanksgiving primetime game, and to say we're excited for the movie would be an understatement.

The clip begins with what looks like the opening scene of the film, where Rafiki presents Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands, complete with the 1994 original's iconic shot of the baboon dangling the royal cub above a cliff. Jame Earl Jones, who reprises his role as Mufasa, narrates the trailer while the opening track from the original, "Circle of Life," soundtracks the scene.

Watch the trailer below.

The Lion King remake is being helmed by Jon Favreau, who also directed the 2016 live action version of The Jungle Book. Aside from Earl Jones, the movie boasts a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé as Nala. The film will also feature Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Eric André, and Keegan-Michael Key are also set to voice some of the film's beloved animals.

The Lion King is slated for a July 19, 2019 release.
